The mission of Fondazione Cariplo is therefore to be a resource that helps social and civil organizations better serve their own community. The Foundation’s primary vocation is supporting the organizations of civil society that represent the social infrastructures of our system. Its approach is based on the principle of subsidiarity. Its mission, role and operational strategy contribute to outline the profile of a foundation which acts as an entity that anticipates emerging needs – or selects deep-seated yet still unmet needs – tries new solutions to respond more effectively and less costly to them, and ultimately makes its best endeavours to disseminate successful solutions.

Fondazione Cariplo is a funding member of the European Foundation Centre, the European association whose purpose is to strengthen and spread organized philanthropy in the interest of civil society, in Europe and the world over.

Fondazione Cariplo has signed partnership agreements/has history of cooperation with the major Foundations at European Level, within and beyond EFC network, and will made this relations available to the project network in order to ensure constant sharing with key stakeholders all over Europe.

The Association of Basque local entities for international cooperation – Euskal Fondoa, is a partnership of 112 municipalities of the Basque country in the North of the Spanish State. It is an instrument of coordination and support to the decentralized cooperation in Basque country offering different local experiences, in order to collaborate in development processes and sustainable relationships with institutions, social organizations and communities in developing countries. EF is always looking for achieving greater efficiency through joint actions, exchange of information and technical assistance, “Municipalities Supporting municipalities” including educational issues. Euskal Fonda is working in five countries of Latin America and Africa, where it has focused its cooperation efforts from the perspective of municipal competencies, which are: Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Cuba and Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is a Portuguese private institution of public utility, with a perpetual character, whose statutory aims are Art, Charity, Science and Education. Bequeathed by the Last Will and Testament of Calouste Sarkis Gulbenkian, a British citizen of Armenian descent, its statutes were approved by the Portuguese State on 18 July 1956. With almost 60 years of work behind it, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is one of the most important foundations in Europe, carrying out extensive activity in Portugal and abroad through its own projects and programmes or in partnership with other entities, and by awarding subsidies to external initiatives and grants. The Foundation has delegations in Paris and London, cities where Calouste Gulbenkian lived.

Contributing to both the development of education in Portugal and to the debate on progress in education around the world, both within the framework of schools and the broader context of societies, make up some of the key guidelines for Foundation actions in the field of education. Through its different Programmes as Empowering Next Generations, Education for Culture and Science, Fostering Portuguese Language and Culture and Gulbenkian Grants, the Foundation renders support to projects and activities enabling lifelong learning and the acquisition of new skills, competences and knowledge and making education and training systems more effective.

Institute for Sustainable Development (ISD) has been supporting development of the organic sector in Slovenia by research, knowledge transfer, awareness-raising and development projects, since 1996. ISD also coordinates a national network of organic school gardens, to provide direct experience for children and youth and promote understanding of sustainable food and agri systems. The programme is empowering teachers with knowledge and skills to establish and maintain school gardens and use them as educational tool.

Kopin is a legally registered Maltese Human Rights NGO that engages in three main fields: international development cooperation; refugee support with a focus on children and women; formal, non-formal and informal Development Education, using innovative, participatory and action-oriented pedagogical approaches. In this regard, Kopin provides educational resources, teachers’ training and activities to students of all levels. In its endeavours, Kopin puts emphasis on cooperationn, networking and the sharing of experiences, using participatory approaches, mutual learning and rights-based approach as key principles.

The Ministry for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs and Civil Liberties and the Voices Foundation are co-financing the project in Malta.

Zwiazek Stowarzyszen Polska Zielona Siec– Alliance of Associations Polish Green Network (Polish Green Network – PGN) is a national alliance of 12 strongest environmental and sustainable development associations and foundations based in the largest cities of Poland.  The main areas of its activities are advocating for social and environmental justice within sustainable development, establishing social control mechanisms over public funds, building public support for development and providing development assistance in the Global South countries. Since 2002 PGN has had experience in promotion of responsible consumption, Fair Trade and development education.

Südwind was founded in 1997 as a non-profit organisation engaged in education and information on global development issues. On local, regional, national, and international levels, Südwind cooperates with organizations and institutions in the fields of international development, education, environment, culture, and social issues, as well as with various civil society networks and important political figures.
Südwind’s core competencies are in the area of Global Education (including material development, trainings, support school pilot projects etc.), in the production of  media on international development issues, and in the compilation of studies on global issues.

The Dreikönigsaktion is cofinancing the project in Austria.

Urgenci is the international network of Community Supported Agriculture. Gathering farmers and conscious consumers from all the world, it actively promotes local and solidarity -based partnerships between producers and consumers, respecting the diversity and the creativity of the local food movement.

Urgenci has a solid experience of experience -sharing exchanges, led since 2008 thanks to support from the EU lifelong learning programmes. Thousands of adult learners from all EU member countries (and beyond) have been involved in informal training activities coordinated by Urgenci. Recently, Urgenci participated to the first generation of Local Food Catalysts’ schools with partners from 5 different European countries, from Outer Hebrides to Cyprus and from Vilnius to Milan.

Association Žmergo -founded in 1994 in Opatija (Croatia) aims to preserve the environment, protect natural and cultural heritage and promote sustainable development. Žmergo’s  activities have an impact on improvement of better quality of life in environmental as well as in cultural and educative terms.

Since 1998 Žmergo is implementing environmental educational programs in kindergarden, elementary and high schools that was attended by more then 8.000 children and youth.
