The 2015-2016 Scholar Year was rich in activities held in partner schools of APSD – Agenda 21, involved in Eathink2015 Initiative.
Thus, last spring, 3 schools from Ilfov, Prahova and Buzău Counties created their scholar gardens that offer to pupils the opportunity to study outdoors the way a plant develops, the alternative of sustainable agriculture and what a healthy lifestyle means.
Pupils from “Ioan Petruș” High School from Otopeni (Ilfov County), “Grigore Moisil” Secondary School from Ploiești (Prahova County), Vernești Secondary School (Buzău County) learned to plant seeds of vegetables. They looked at the way they developed and understood that a responsible consumption for our environment, among other things, is represented by purchasing local products.
We invite you to enjoy the moments of pupils studying in theie own scholar gardens.
Everything started as a game, in April, when we planted the seeds in the hotbeds. There were expected to be born “baby plants” out of them. We let them a month on the window sills. Young people checked daily the circumambience temperature and the growth rhythm.
Also, they planted salad, coriander, parsley, basil, oregano, tarragon, hot pepper, cherry tomatoes and balm. Parents were caught in our game too! Following the Easter Holiday, our school garden was ready, “a real school garden” as they said proudly. The “babies” grew up and went to the “kindergarden”, in bigger flower pots, in their new home, the scholar garden. Pupils were on duty every day to water the plants, to caress and admire them.
